3rd December - Blue Gum Flat International Speech & Evaluation Contests

A highlight of the year for many, tonight we held our club session of the International Speech and Evaluation contests.

It was a sensational night, with some great speeches, and great evaluations!

The International Speech competition saw 5 Speakers: Anne, Chantel, Glennis, Jeremy & Tony.  3rd place went to: Anne Stimpson.  2nd place went to: Chantel Queenan.  And our winner, representing Blue Gum Flat at the Area 24 contest was Jeremy Brew.

The Evaluation competition saw the same 5 entrants, who seem to just love competing!!  3rd place went to: Tony Miller.  2nd place went to: Jeremy Brew.  And our winner, representing Blue Gum Flat at the Area 24 contest is Chantel Queenan.

One of the entry requirements to this competition was completion of a Pathways Level 2 qualification.  A big shout out to Chantel, who completed her Level 2 in a new record time to ensure she was able to compete!  Well done!

tonight we were also able to recognise Tony Miller's achievement of Advanced Communicator Gold.  Well done Tony!

Competitions like this can’t happen without the amazing support of Judges, Timers, Counters and our test speaker.  Thanks to all for your support of our club!

24th November - Communication Workshop at Ourimbah RSL

Today we held a Communication Workshop, as an open invite to the community.

Whilst we only had 2 public members that joined today, it was a great learning experience for the club, as well as our 2 visitors.

The format worked well and we are excited to look at future options of running similar events.  Thanks to all those who attended, participated and to those that assisted behind the scenes.

19th November - Ordinary Club Meeting

With a theme of ‘Recycling’, tonights meeting really challenged us all to think about our impact on the environment.

As part of the Toastmasters Pathways program, Chantel had a challenging job tonight as part of our table topics, to listen to each speaker, and deliver a quick 30 second response and summary.  This is part of the ‘Active Listening’ project.  Chantel performed excellently, and was rewarded with our “Best Speech” award for her efforts.

We had a quick business session with Glennis, helping us all to practive our parliamentarian skills!

4 speeches tonight from Tim, Mark, Glennis and Jeremy.  

At Blue Gum Flat, we have been increasing the number of speeches in our meetings which has helped all our members grow and improve as they work through the education program.  Thanks to our VPE, Tanya Wickham, for her continued efforts in helping us all progress!

Best Speech award went to Chantel.  Best Table Topics to Mark.  And Best Evaluation was awarded to Anne. 

 Lastly, our Chairmans Choice award was presented by Nicola to Chantel.
